Hulbert gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against the Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats as the Hulbert Riders made off with a 14-7 win. That's two games straight that the Riders have won by exactly seven runs.

Ethan Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 11 over 5.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Botts, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Dusty Tedder was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hulbert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chouteau-Mazie only posted an OBP of .294.

The victory made it two in a row for Hulbert and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7 runs. As for Chouteau-Mazie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hulbert beat Chouteau-Mazie by a score of 12-4 on Tuesday.
