Mt. Pleasant and San Jose are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will take on the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Mt. Pleasant came out on top against James Lick on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Cardinals never let the Comets get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Julian Saldana was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Arroyo, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, San Jose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Overfelt. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ethan Yanez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for San Jose: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Julian Soliz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
San Jose's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
San Jose's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Pleasant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. It's a different story for San Jose, though, as they've only averaged .211. Will they be able to contain Mt. Pleasant's hitters?
Mt. Pleasant took their win against San Jose when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 19-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
