Recap: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. Boys Latin Lakers

The Calvert Hall Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boys Latin. Calvert Hall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Boys Latin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Loss or not, Calvert Hall got some senior leadership from Tyrin Bizzelle and Brendan Johnson. Bizzelle scored 18 points along with eight rebounds, while Johnson. dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bizzelle pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was JT Taggart, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Calvert Hall bumped their record down to 9-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Boys Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvert Hall will square off against Glenelg Country at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenelg Country and Calvert Hall are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Boys Latin, they will head out on the road to take on St. Frances Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Frances Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Boys Latin likes a good challenge.
