Baseball Game Preview: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. Suncoast Chargers

Benjamin is a perfect 3-0 against Suncoast since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Benjamin Buccaneers will challenge the Suncoast Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Benjamin is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Benjamin barely beat Palm Beach Gardens the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Benjamin was the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Palm Beach Gardens on Monday.

Benjamin got a great performance from Thomas Harris as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Harris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin let Drew Buchanan and Luke Taplett run wild. Buchanan scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Taplett scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Buchanan has posted since back in February. Brandon Owens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Suncoast unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of South Fork by a score of 1-0.

Jason Giamboi was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Suncoast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Cimbella, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Benjamin's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Suncoast, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Everything went Benjamin's way against Suncoast when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as Benjamin made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benjamin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
