Basketball Game Preview: Batesville Bulldogs vs. Seymour Owls

Batesville is 2-8 against Seymour since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Owls at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Batesville was able to grind out a solid win over North Decatur, taking the game 46-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Maggie Jelinek went supernova, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 15 boards. Jelinek is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Gesell, who posted eight points and five boards.

Batesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Seymour not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since November 9, 2024 (when they won 58-8). They breezed past Greenwood to the tune of 61-30. The victory continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Woodmen: they've now won eight in a row.

Seymour now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Batesville, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Batesville lost to Seymour on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
