Softball Recap: Dymally's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Dymally dropped their record down to 8-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They took a 19-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the George Washington Prep Generals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-20 back in April.

Rihanna Ruiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got four hits. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last six games she's played. Danah Albarran was another key player, getting five hits.

As for George Washington Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.9 runs over those games.

On George Washington Prep's side, Aracely Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and 11 unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Gonzalez.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Varela, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was April Tovar, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI and one run.
