Baseball Recap: Torres Has No Trouble Against Mclane

Torres won the last time they faced McLane and things went their way on Friday too. Torres blew past McLane 8-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Toros.

Andrew Castanon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Torres: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Torres let Dominic Garcia and Amani Sua run wild. Garcia scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Sua went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in RBI (three). Austin Meza was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Torres hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Torres' record now sits at 4-8. As for McLane, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
