Soccer Game Preview: Fleming vs. Lord Botetourt

The Fleming Colonels are taking a road trip to take on the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lord Botetourt took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fleming, who comes in off a win.

If Fleming beats Lord Botetourt with four goals on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Colonels walked away with a 4-2 win over Northside on Tuesday. Fleming haven't had any issues with Northside recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, Lord Botetourt was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of William Byrd by a score of 2-1.

Lord Botetourt's goal came courtesy of Robbie Sanchez, who's now up to three this season.

Lord Botetourt's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Fleming, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Everything went Fleming's way against Lord Botetourt in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Fleming made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
