Preview: Saint Mary's Hall Barons vs. St. Joseph Flyers

Saint Mary's Hall has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the St. Joseph Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Saint Mary's Hall will be strutting in after a victory while St. Joseph will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Saint Mary's Hall earned a 36-27 victory over St. Joseph Academy. Given Saint Mary's Hall's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while St. Joseph Academy is ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saint Mary's Hall's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sedelia Wilson-larkin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Wilson-larkin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella (Beya) Chase, who scored ten points along with five steals.

After soaring to a 40-point win in their last game, St. Joseph came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of San Antonio Christian by a score of 45-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Joseph in their matchups with San Antonio Christian: they've now lost four in a row.

Saint Mary's Hall's win was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 31-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-11.

Everything came up roses for Saint Mary's Hall against St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 75-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saint Mary's Hall since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
