Football Recap: Mead Piles Up the Points Against Northridge

Mead got themselves on the board against Northridge on Friday, but Northridge never followed suit. They blew past the Grizzlies 48-0. The Mavericks have beaten the Grizzlies the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Grizzlies has come to flipping the script.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Chapala, who rushed for 116 yards and one score on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Davis, who picked up 129 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Mead didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Northridge to a completion percentage of just 27.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Owen Noe, Breckan Palko, Jordan Patterson, and Brycen Gissel, who each logged one passes deflected. Mead has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Mead's record is now 7-1. As for Northridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mead will take on rival Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mavericks 6.5, the Wizards 4.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Northridge is set to square off against their familiar foe Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
