Volleyball Recap: Fuquay - Varina Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Fuquay - Varina was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Smithfield-Selma on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bengals came up short against the Apex Friendship Patriots on Monday, falling 3-0. The Bengals haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-10.

Taytum Sola paced Fuquay - Varina's offense, picking up seven kills. Sola really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Brynn Ransdell controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Apex Friendship was led to victory by Shelby Fuller and Cambryn Scott. Fuller had 12 digs and seven assists, while Scott had six assists and three aces. Fuller is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Natalie Johanning also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Fuquay - Varina's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Apex Friendship, they moved to 5-10 with that victory, which also ended their four-match losing streak.

Fuquay - Varina and Apex Friendship should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Bengals will face off against South Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (270 vs. 582). Meanwhile, Apex Friendship (ranked 152nd) will meet Willow Spring (ranked 351st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
