Basketball Game Preview: DuQuoin Indians vs. Christopher Bearcats

DuQuoin hasn't had much luck against Christopher recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The DuQuoin Indians will be taking part in a tournament against the Christopher Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. DuQuoin will be strutting in after a win while Christopher will be coming in after a loss.

Christopher will be up against a hot DuQuoin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. DuQuoin snuck past Johnston City with a 52-48 victory on Tuesday. Given DuQuoin's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Johnston City is ranked 611th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Christopher duked it out withAnna-Jonesboro on Tuesday. Christopher was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Anna-Jonesboro. The Bearcats haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Christopher's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for DuQuoin, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Things could have been worse for DuQuoin, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-43 loss to Christopher when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can DuQuoin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
