Basketball Recap: Pawhuska Skates Past Woodland with Ease

Pawhuska had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They claimed a resounding 54-26 victory over the Woodland Cougars. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Cougars are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Pawhuska to victory were Hannah Reynolds and Brooklyn Miles. Reynolds went 10 for 19 en route to 25 points along with five assists and four steals, while Miles almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reynolds has scored at least a third of Pawhuska's points. Another player making a difference was Madison Reynolds, who posted five points and three steals.

Pawhuska pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Coming up, Pawhuska will host Wyandotte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
