Soccer Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

If Mountain View was riding high fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Mark Keppel two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain View Vikings opened the new year with a less-than-successful 2-0 defeat to the Monrovia Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-2. As for Monrovia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1-3.

Mountain View and Monrovia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mountain View (ranked 255th) will meet Gabrielino (ranked 866th) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Monrovia will square off against Temple City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 635 places (240 vs. 875).
