Basketball Recap: Leyna Mcclinon Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Thomas Jefferson fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on the Montbello Warriors with a sharp 42-22 victory on Tuesday. The Spartans pushed the score to 32-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas Jefferson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leyna McClinon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalena Flores, who posted nine points and five steals.

Thomas Jefferson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
