Basketball Game Preview: Crystal City Hornets vs. Lesterville Bearcats

The Crystal City Hornets will square off against the Lesterville Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lesterville will be up against a hot Crystal City team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Crystal City came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 63-58 W against Herculaneum.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lesterville). They claimed a resounding 85-48 victory over Houston. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bearcats have posted since February 13, 2024.

Lesterville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Crystal City, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-17.
