Basketball Recap: AZ Compass Prep Comes Up Short

AZ Compass Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 79-69 to the Eduprize Open Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Eagles are ranked 36th).

AZ Compass Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Eduprize Open, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

AZ Compass Prep has already played their next contest, a 72-41 loss against Heritage Academy Gateway on the 14th. As for Eduprize Open, they will take on Premier Prep- PHHoenix Open at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st. Eduprize Open is on a 23-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Premier Prep- PHHoenix Open a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
