Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brooklyn Cawley and Natalie Smith Lead Nitro to Victory

Nitro won the last time they faced St. Albans and things went their way on Thursday too. The Nitro Wildcats took down the St. Albans Red Dragons 52-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Nitro was led to victory by Natalie Smith and Brooklyn Cawley. Smith dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, while Cawley shot 42% from the field en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals Cawley has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Jones, who had eight points.

St. Albans' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samyah Riggan, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Riggan continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Triniti Austin-Russell was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Nitro's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for St. Albans, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Nitro nor St. Albans have any future games scheduled.
