Basketball Recap: Kiowa Takes a Loss

Kiowa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 49-35 fall against the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 47-27 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Genoa-Hugo/Karval to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eddy Franey, who posted 14 points and seven boards. What's more, Franey also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brady Simmons, who had ten points and eight rebounds.

Kiowa's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, their win bumped their record up to 3-13.

Coming up, Kiowa will welcome Monument Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kiowa is facing Monument Academy at the right time seeing as Monument Academy is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they will face off against Miami-Yoder at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
