Volleyball Recap: Franklin County Gets the Win

Franklin County took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Henry Clay, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blue Devils 3-2. This was payback for the Flyers, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-105) Franklin County actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Despite the loss, Henry Clay had strong showings from Isaac Liang, who had eight digs and six aces, and Cooper Pugh, who had 18 digs and three assists. Pugh is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Henry Clay, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Franklin County will square off against Shelby County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Henry Clay, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sayre at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Devils are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
