Softball Preview: Seymour Indians vs. Liberty Eagles
The Seymour Indians will venture away from home to take on the Liberty Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Seymour lost 10-3 to Hamilton on Monday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They put the hurt on Routt Catholic with a sharp 25-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ava Heming made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Heming was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Andi Mixer was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Aubrey Fessler was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.
