Basketball Recap: Cedar Key Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Cedar Key Sharks lost to the First Christian Lions at home by a 48-32 margin. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 598th, while the Lions are ranked 240th).

First Christian found their leader in sophomore Reagan Davis, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Davis' 18th in a row with at least ten points. Analy Ellis was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Cedar Key has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for First Christian, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Key has already played their next game (against Countryside Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. First Christian will challenge P.K. Yonge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
