Baseball Recap: Clay Takes a Loss

The Clay Eagles came up short against the Shelby County Rockets on Saturday and fell 7-2.

Clay got a good showing from Max Sutton, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Clay saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raymond Campos, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Clay's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Shelby County, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Clay Eagles take on Atherton Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clay's pitchers better be ready for this one: Atherton has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Shelby County, they will welcome Western Hills at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shelby County will need to watch out since Western Hills has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
