Preview: Santa Fe Indians vs. Manvel Mavericks
Santa Fe is 1-9 against Manvel since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Santa Fe Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Manvel Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Santa Fe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 35-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Texas City. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Santa Fe has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cooper Baldridge, who scored five points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Jewell, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Manvel unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Friendswood. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Santa Fe bumped their record down to 10-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Manvel, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.
Santa Fe ended up a good deal behind Manvel when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 70-55. Can Santa Fe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
