It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Appleton East ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Appleton West Terrors 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Appleton East's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Appleton West, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Appleton East and Appleton West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 261st) will meet Pulaski (ranked 119th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Appleton West will challenge Fond du Lac at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (292 vs. 25).
