Basketball Recap: Northern Valley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Northern Valley had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 54-43 victory over the Stockton Tigers on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Northern Valley to victory were Owen Hammond and Tait Thalheim. Hammond dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Thalheim almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Hammond is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Lucas Hansen was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Northern Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Stockton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-10-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Valley will venture away from home to challenge Western Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Western Plains' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Northern Valley has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Stockton, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Stockton Tigers challenge the Pike Valley Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
