Basketball Recap: Morehead Beats T.W. Andrews for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Morehead came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 win over the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Red Raiders back in January, they had to take a 69-53 loss.

Morehead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Thomas, who went 10 of 17 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. The contest was Thomas' sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Avery Bigelow, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards.

Morehead's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points over those games. As for T.W. Andrews, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10.

Morehead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-60 loss against Walkertown on the 7th. As for T.W. Andrews, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-45 defeat against Western Alamance on the 5th.
