Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Daniel's 11th in Last 13 Outings

Daniel barely beat Greer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Lions have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ian McCrary tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Liam Purcell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Turnipseed, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Daniel is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Greer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Greer will be playing in front of their home fans against Southside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sabres will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight. Daniel will be paying especially close attention to Greer's game: after Greer faces off against Southside Christian, they'll take on Daniel again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
