Baseball Game Preview: La Joya Community Fighting Lobos vs. Metro Tech Knights

The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos will face off against the Metro Tech Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

La Joya Community took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Browne a 3-0 shutout.

Gavino Bustamante made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because La Joya Community is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise. Bustamante was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bustamante wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cayson Hamrick, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Those three hits gave Hamrick a new career-high. Santiago Carrero Marquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Metro Tech sidestepped North for a 5-4 win.

La Joya Community's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Metro Tech, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
