Basketball Recap: West Springfield Comes Up Short

West Springfield was the 43-28 winner over Fairfax when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The West Springfield Spartans took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairfax Lions on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Lions are ranked 233rd).

West Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Fairfax, their record now sits at 5-10.

West Springfield will challenge Lake Braddock at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Springfield is facing Lake Braddock at the right time seeing as Lake Braddock is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. Fairfax has already played their next match (against South County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
