Recap: Fowler Grizzlies vs. Hoehne Farmers
After flying high against the Holly Wildcats last Saturday, the Fowler Grizzlies came back down to earth. Fowler fell 48-38 to Hoehne on Friday. Fowler was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hoehne apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Randi Maestas, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Maestas hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaslyn Bates, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Fowler's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Hoehne, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fowler won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rocky Ford at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. Rocky Ford and Fowler are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Hoehne, they will head out on the road to face off against Walsenburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
