Football Game Preview: Messalonskee Eagles vs. Leavitt Hornets + How To Watch

The Messalonskee Eagles will face off against the Leavitt Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Messalonskee is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Mt. Blue on Friday. The Eagles enjoyed a cozy 26-7 win over the Cougars. That looming 26-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Tatum Doucette was his usual excellent self, rushing for 160 yards and two scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 182 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104.7 rushing yards per game. Messalonskee's leading receiver Malachi Cusano was Doucette's top target yet again, picking up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Messalonskee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Denny Martin and Parker Doucette.

Meanwhile, Leavitt faced Gardiner in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 32-7 victory. Considering the Hornets have won four games by more than 24 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Leavitt pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points over those games. As for Messalonskee, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
