Preview: Worthing Colts vs. Furr Brahmans
Worthing is 0-5 against Furr since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Worthing Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Furr Brahmans at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Worthing had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 41-8 win over North Forest. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Worthing just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last match, Furr made sure to put some points up on the board against Washington on Thursday. Furr blew past Washington 48-7 on the road.
Darrius Garland was on fire: he threw for 179 yards and four touchdowns on only eight passes, and also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Avery Lazard also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Worthing to 5-2 and Furr to 4-3.
Worthing came up short against Furr when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 27-18. Thankfully for Worthing, Camron Heard (who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
