Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Yellowjackets vs. Covington Owls

The Meridian Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Covington Owls at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meridian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Tuesday, Meridian slipped by Covington 58-57. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Owls are ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Covington's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for Meridian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
