Softball Recap: North Putnam Cougars vs. Northview Knights

North Putnam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Northview Knights by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to North Putnam of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

North Putnam saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Mason, who went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

On Northview's side, MAGGIE KRAUSE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. North Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Northview, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

North Putnam will be playing in front of their home fans against Greencastle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Putnam has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Northview, they will head out on the road to face off against Indian Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Indian Creek's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Northview has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
