Baseball Recap: Luther Takes a Loss

Luther was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 9-6 to the Wellston Tigers. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 9-2.

Bo Browning and Esteban C put in work while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Browning pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, C pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Browning didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. At bat, Browning went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while C went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Brady Roy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Shea Curtis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Luther's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Wellston, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-18 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luther will challenge Davenport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wellston, they will face off against Carney at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
