Basketball Recap: Rylie Hoyt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Junction Central over Horizon

Grand Junction Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Horizon Hawks, falling 67-46. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 76-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Grand Junction Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rylie Hoyt, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Asher Carter, who put up 11 points.

Leading Horizon to victory were Aiden Greene and Boaz Wisne. Greene dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards, while Wisne almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. What's more, Wisne also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. William Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Grand Junction Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Horizon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Grand Junction Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-60 loss against Rampart on the 12th. As for Horizon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-32 victory against Adams City on the 9th.
