Football Recap: Sixth Straight Road Win for Hoggard

Hoggard had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 27-13 victory over the Richmond Senior Raiders. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Vikings' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Raiders are ranked 77th).

Hoggard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Boring led the charge by throwing for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns (1 INT).

Despite the defeat, Richmond Senior had strong showings from Damarion Allen, who rushed for 162 yards and 1 score on only 11 carries, and Chance Crowder, who gained 152 total yards and a touchdown. Crowder also set a new season-high mark in rushing yards with 103.

Hoggard pushed their record up to 1-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories were made possible by their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.2 points over those games. As for Richmond Senior, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Hoggard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 31-6 win against Jack Britt on the 28th. As for Richmond Senior, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-13 defeat against Scotland on the 28th.
