Volleyball Recap: Santana Takes a Loss

Santana was the 2-0 winner over Christian when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Sultans lost 3-0 to the Patriots on Friday. The Sultans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Santana took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 27-25.

Christian was led to victory by McKade Mathson and Trae Pheasant. Mathson had 14 digs and three assists, while Pheasant had eight digs and seven assists. That's the most digs Pheasant has posted over his last eight contests.

Santana's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santana will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Christian, they will host Point Loma at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Pointers at the right time seeing as the Pointers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
