Baseball Game Preview: Van Alstyne Panthers vs. Krum Bobcats

For the second straight game, Van Alstyne will face off against Krum. The Panthers will challenge the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Van Alstyne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Krum get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Hayden Bietz made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Bietz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Newkirk, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits Newkirk has posted since back in March.

The win got Van Alstyne back to even at 12-12. As for Krum, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-9.
