Preview: Liberal Redskins vs. Hays Indians
Liberal is 0-10 against Hays since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Liberal Redskins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hays Indians at 8:00 p.m. Liberal is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Last Tuesday, Liberal came up short against Garden City and fell 60-47. Liberal has struggled against Garden City recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Zayden Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was J. Brooks Kappelmann, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hays unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of McPherson. While losing is never fun, Hays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while McPherson is ranked fourth).
Liberal's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Hays, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.
