Basketball Recap: Liberty Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cierra St. John and Shania Brown

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 57-41 fall against the Staunton River Golden Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Minutemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-33 last Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, Liberty had strong showings from Shania Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds, and Cierra St. John, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Brown is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last six games she's played.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

Liberty's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Staunton River, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Liberty has already played their next game, a 53-34 win against Brookville on the 31st. As for Staunton River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-14 victory against Franklin County on the 31st.
