Softball Game Preview: Leslie County Eagles vs. Corbin Redhounds

The Leslie County Eagles will head out to take on the Corbin Redhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Leslie County was handed a 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Jenkins 5-3. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kennedy Maggard spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Emily Caldwell and Peyton Turner did most of the damage at the plate: Caldwell went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Turner scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Caldwell a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Corbin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Rockcastle County on Monday. The Redhounds haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Leslie County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Corbin, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
