Basketball Preview: Campbell County Cougars vs. Barren County Trojans
The Campbell County Cougars and the Barren County Trojans will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Campbell County took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 win over Oneida. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Indians are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Campbell County can attribute much of their success to Jayden Kitts, who posted six points in addition to nine steals and eight assists, and Bella Lester, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 21 points. Kitts is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Hutcheson, who had seven points in addition to six boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barren County). They blew past South Oldham, posting an 82-43 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans who have now won three contests in a row.
Campbell County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Barren County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
