Baseball Recap: North Harrison Comes Up Short

North Harrison extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pattonsburg Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Shamrocks of the 19-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Pattonsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

For Pattonsburg's part, Camden Mossburg made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Mossburg has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Reagan Coin was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dustin Ward, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

North Harrison has already played their next matchup (against Gilman City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pattonsburg, they will host North Andrew at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
