Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Houlka's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Houlka unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 58-49 to the Pine Grove Panthers. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 13-8 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Houlka still got an impressive performance from Elijah Foster, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Paxton Graves, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Houlka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Houlka's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Pine Grove, their record is now 13-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Houlka Wildcats face off against the West Lowndes Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Grove, they will venture away from home to take on Jumpertown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
