Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crestwood). They had just enough and edged out the Kirtland Hornets 11-10 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Crestwood got a big performance out of Kayleigh Helm, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits Helm has posted since back in April of 2024. Serena Wright was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Crestwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Crestwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Kirtland, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.
Coming up, Crestwood will face off against Beaumont School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Streaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kirtland, they will take on Fairview at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
