Baseball Game Preview: Alexandria Valley Cubs vs. Cherokee County Warriors

The Alexandria Valley Cubs will face off against the Cherokee County Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Alexandria came up short against Pell City on Saturday, falling 12-3. The Valley Cubs haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, Cherokee County came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-3. Considering the Warriors have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Tittle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Aiden Bobbitt was a standout: he scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of James Hunter, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cherokee County's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Alexandria took their victory against Cherokee County when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 14-7 score. Do the Valley Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
