Softball Recap: Powers Catholic's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Powers Catholic can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Deckerville Eagles as they made off with a 13-2 win. The Chargers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Alexa Glady spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Swigert and Makayla Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Swigert got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Stewart went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Swigert's first of the season. Haleena Abueita was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Powers Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Deckerville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Powers Catholic will challenge Davison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Deckerville, they will venture away from home to face off against All Saints Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
