Basketball Recap: Cleveland Takes a Loss

Cleveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brindlee Mountain Lions. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 46-40.

Brindlee Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoey Persle, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those four steals gave Persle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Devon Murray, who scored six points and eight rebounds.

Cleveland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Brindlee Mountain, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-14.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cleveland Panthers challenge the Pennington Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brindlee Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge Woodville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
